I purchased the stove used about 5 years ago. It's an older Admiral Electric stove which is roughly between 12-15 years old (I don't presently have the model # sorry) When you turn the oven switch on no matter what temperature the top element in the stove comes on, first of all is this normal? (Isn't the top element only for broil?) When you turn the dial to broil the top element heats up as it should, then if you turn the dial lets say back to 350 the top element stays on and then a while later (only sometimes) the bottom element finally comes on, then they both stay on? how can i get just the bottom element on? Can anyone point me in the right direction? could it be the oven switch(dial) has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks for any help!!!!

When the oven is turned on, is it in preheat mode?
Does the top element turn off when the set temp is reached?

I'm not familiar with preheat mode? how do i get it off preheat mode. I was testing it with the oven door open, so it looked like top element was always on, maybe i should test it with oven door shut?
Thanks for your help!!
