I have four boys and am remodelling a double wide 3 bedroom for a home to live in. My 9 and 7 year old will share a small bedroom, and the 2 year old and 11 !/2 month old will share a room. The closets are smallish, but not too terrible. I want to cut down on furniture and utilize every inch of closet space I can. Any suggestions? The closet formerly had a row of shelves (3) and then on in, one rod for clothes with a shelf above it.
Also, I do not like the wire closet organizers, any suggestions?

My sister put the kids dresser in the closet and a small stack of plastic pull out drawers next to it. Then installed a hanging rod across half of the closet above the dresser and shelves on the wall next to the hanging rod area. It came out great and is quite efficient.
