Amana Refrig Model BX21VW. Almost 8 yrs old. Fresh food section not cooling.
Freezer is below zero temp, system cycles on/off, I am certain that the evap fan is running but not sure that the freezer fan is running. Cleaned all coils, checked gaskets, all OK. What now prior to calling for repair service. All help appreciated.

...but not sure that the freezer fan is running.
See if it is. The fan has to run when the compressor runs. If the compressor is running and the freezer fan is not, then you either probably have an ice-blocked fan blade, loose blade, or bad motor to the fan. These are readily DIY changeouts.

Thanks, ecman51: freezer fan works. All iced-up. Did manual defrost. Seems to be working for now, after being on for 5 hours the Frige temp is now 50 deg and the freezer temp is .9 degs and has already dumped ice once. Will wait it out to see whats next. Thanks again, David

You may have an underlying problem. You have to be sure the defrost condensate water is able to drain completely through the drip cup mounted at inside fridge back wall high up, and then down the drain tube into the evaporation pan located etiher under the fridge if you have bottom coils, or ontop the compressor if you have rear coils. Try dumping water in the cup and see if you se it come out the bottom of the tube. (A turkey baster works good for this.) This will be a start. Then we can move on from there.
4 hours for fridge section to get down to 50 degrees is quite long. But the 9 degrees sounds reasonable for freezer. You should not have such a differential between the two.. I suspect that the vent that allows freezer air to chill the fridge section is iced up some. So thaw that out also. Make sure your temp (in fridge section) and baffle (in freezer section) settings are both at midway setings.
...................
Reason for 1st paragraph: If the defrost water cannot get out of the pan in the freezer under the cooling coils, the coils and the drain and vent holes ice up and you lose cooling efficiency, or just plain kill the cooling. The the unit runs and runs because the fridge stat cannot make set temp. And that's no good for the compressor.
