For my lawn edging needs (150 feet along sidewalk, and 150 feet against raised 6x6 wood borders) I have narrowed my search for string trimmers to the Echo 200 ($150) and the Stihl FS45 Easy2Start ($190).
I'll use it 26 times a year probably for the next 5 years or until I croak, whichever comes first.
I can do my own maintenance provided I don't need specialty tools, that is.
I'm leaning towards the Stihl because of its reputation and its easy-start system.
I value an easy-to-thread string system and bump-feed (had it before).
Which would be the better buy?

I am not very familiar with either of these, but both should be pretty decent. I usually prefer the Stihl bump knobs a little more than the echos, but either works well.
