I just acquired a 28" Snapper (SR1028) lawn mower and it cuts the grass too short. The previous owner said that there's nothing that can be done and that he's always had the same problem.
I have it set on the highest setting.
Is it possible to put larger wheels on it or maybe a different blade. The back wheels are 16-6.5-8 and the front wheels are 4.10-4. I think that I read those numbers right. I measured the front wheels at about 10" X 3 1/2" and the back wheels measured about 15-16" X 6 1/2". I don't know what blade is on it (it was getting dark tonight when I was looking).

If the blade is bent downward it will cut the grass lower than the wheel setting.

I agree about the bent blade, but most snapper decks are adjustable. Does yours have cables or chains holding the rear of the deck up? Are the tires properly inflated? 10 psi of air can make a huge difference.
