I want to add an additional panel (at the back door) to my alarm system. I have a GE NX8 system. Do I wire it where the first panel is? And how do I program it? I have the manuals.

Yes, ideally, you run a new 4 conductor (it only needs 3 but they make cable with pairs of conductors) from the new keypad location to the cabinet with the motherboard. In a pinch you can wire it from the back of the existing keypad, but there are a number of technical reasons to avoid that, if possible.

There isn't much that you need to do in terms of programming. Once you set the keypad address, you are pretty much good to go, unless you are using an LCD keypad model.
