Does anyone have any experiences with these windows? Ive done quite a bit of internet research and all I could find is that they are considered overpriced. I received a quote for about $2000 a window for 7 windows, all of which are pretty big. The smallest 2 are 4x6 and the largest is about 6x10. This includes all interior and exterior trim work, plus some header work, if necessary, on 1 of the windows. I live in No. Cal, so I expect a higher than average price, but is this too high?? I just dont know.

I've bought Anderson and I've bought Pella.. and prefer Anderson...
Your prices are for installation, obviously - which is the spendier part of replacing windows. (labor/expertise costs). All I can suggest is that you get 3 estimates from reputable companies (toss that mailbox mailer in the trash)... and go from there. $2000 a window sounds high.... very high.. to me --- but keep in mind, I do my own installation. If you want to know how much the labor is costing you... visit HD/LOW and get a quote on the windows by themselves..... then assess your DIY skills to determine what a pro's expertise is worth.

Flick,
Agree with prior post and I'll add this.
Why would you need interior trim work for one thing? These will prob be installed from the ext w/o disturbing anything.
Andersen makes all sorts of trim that will cover some (not all) of the ext frame. Thats w/o me going to the website, just from memory.
These windows are all custom sized, but I'd guesstimate the 2 x 6 window would prob run maybe $600-700 with all the standard options. That would be $1300 in labor? Even dropping that by half it seems extremely high.
The important thing with the Andersens is measuring and ordering very accurately as, if I'm thinking correctly, they make diff sill angles. And they are sooooo non-returnable.
Check around, see if you have any other companies that can install them. I know in VA one company had a monopoly on Renewal windows.

FWIW - last set of Anderson replacement windows I bought (various sizes - ranging from 2.5 X 5 to 3.5 X 5 - double pane/double sash with interior gridwork on top sash/E-glass)- cost me about $250 each. Installation was from the inside, requiring trim removal/replacement - but used all the old trim - requiring no new wood to do the install.....

thezster,
Those are good prices! Were you buying wholesale? I know when you start adding grilles and the fancy hardware it can go up quite a bit.
ACK! I think I may be thinking of the Woodrite line...well crapola!

Basic remodel units via LOW's.... Bought about 10 at a time -
As a "valued customer" (meaning I spend at least $50K/yr) - I think I got a pretty good price...
Just bought Pella via HD last month - and spent about $50 -$75/window more.... and am not happy with the design/quality of their products... not to mention the gridwork in one of the windows arrived upside down - and am now waiting for two new sashes to correct the issue.....

Thanks for the fast replies. Couple things--GUNGUY--you said 2x6 cost 6-700. 4x6 is the smallest I have. 2 are 8x6 and 1 is 10x8. I have no doubt that the majority of cost is labor. I was going to buy from HD/Lowes but in one of my rooms there are 3 small windows (illegal by todays standards) that we want converted to 1 window. The box stores dont do framing. Also I have no trim installed on any window in the house, we just bought it that way. BTW- the windows from box store are not replacement windows only new construction windows. renewal by Andersen will not sell to anyone but an authorized dealer/installer, so the local company definatley has a monopoly on this product.

Yeah, musta seen the "2 windows 4 x 6" thing and got confused.
The Woodwright line by Andersen is basically made the same as the Renewal, and they are available as replacment or new construction. Guess I've been away from it too long, or the heats gettin to me..lol.. time for a cool beverage I guess.
