So I had Champion cable hooked up. The cable hooked the cable into the cable box then into my VCR, Mitsubishi TrueTape VCR+, then into my TV, old-old RCA.

Okay, so the cable works great and I can even control playing a tape with the cable remote. Geez, those things are like rocket ship controllers!

But when I have the VCR memorize the cable stations, it goes through all the channels, but doesn't memorize them. I can't change the channels on the VCR, so I can't set the programmer to record any cable channels.

I checked the back of the machines and the cables are set up correctly.

Any ideas, suggestions or clues? Any help is ever so appreciated! Thanks!

If the vcr is hooked up after the cable box, then you will only be able to get ch. 3 or 4 .witch ever channel the cable box is set to out put to.you would change the channel via the cable box just like on your tv.
if you would like to record 1 channel while watching another<minus the PPV and Premium channels>.You have to install a splitter on the line coming in from the wall.1 cable to the vcr and the other to the cable box.

Ahh, hmm, something to think about! Indeed I went and turned on the TV, the VCR and the cable box. When I switched to just the TV, I only got the local fuzzy channels. So, I do believe you're right!!! I'm off to get a cable splitter. Hopefully, I can get something like that at the local Target store. Thanks ever so much!!!
