*8, installer code, 015, turn on 8. then go to 380, turn on 1. then go to 301 and put your cell number in. then go to 360 and put in 06. go to 320 an put in alarm reporting codes. someone else may chime in for any other advice. hope this helps.

I think I got this to work on my PC-1832:

1) Put your cell phone in the calling number (section 301)

2) Select the Communicator Format (section 350)
- the choices here are pager (05), residential (06) or private line (09); residential or private actually seem more appropriate but you have to be prepared to make sure you can get DTMF back from your cell to the control, otherwise you'll create an "FTC Trouble" condition that I found hard to clear. Pager seems 'safer' but I didn't get the timing to work.

3) As it says below go to sections 320-351 and put in the Alarm report codes. I think, by default, most of what you want is in there. The thing that made it work for me was to put a reporting code in for System Test (section 348). I could then test the call by performing a System Test *6[MasterCode]4.

I did trigger an alarm and it did what I expected (called the cell waited for me to respond with any button). I did have an FTC trouble created when, at first, I couldn't get DTMF heard by the PC-1832 from the cell. I later placed my cell in "LONG" DTMF mode which the PC-1832 did hear. I do have DSL in the house, however, and I think my problem is I need a filter on the line to the PC-1832.

I'm pleased that I got it to work. Some advice I've seen on the board indicates, however, that it might be problematic over the long run. I'd love to hear some experience, good or bad with this configuration. I'd also like to hear if there's a simple way to clear an "FTC Trouble" condition, other than forcing another call that does complete with an acknowledgement.

Nope, the only way to clear that FTC trouble is to successfully complete a call. Otherwise the only other way is to disable the dialer in programming, and then power cycle the system.

I guess I did well then, as I did find one path without a power cycle: Program the Communicator format to Pager and force a call. By definition, the call is successful and the FTC trouble indicator clears ... You can then go back to residential or private format and the trouble indicator remains clear.

Thanks much for the feedback.
