What color do I paint the ceiling and door trim in my reading room? I'm repainting the living room light beige/cream and another smaller reading room light medium green. They are visible from each other through a door seperated by the home entrance. I want to paint the reading room ceiling darker than the walls cuz I have 12' ceilings. I don't know what to do with the trim. The rest of the house has white trim and white ceilings.

If going with darker color on ceilings, go with the same color but a shade or two darker than wall paint. You may want to paint the wall that is visible from the green room the green color as a focal wall. Ceiling can be the same cream color as the walls.

If trim is white in the rest of the home, continue with the white trim for the sake of continuity and flow. While wall paint colors can vary, the trim stands as a unifying element.

thanks for the reply. those are interesting ideas. the accent color is an idea as I was thinking of a way to unify those rooms. I'll give it some thought.
