I came home to a basement with lots of water on the floor due to the washer leaking. I pulled the front cover off and the drum liner was leaking where the agitator connects. I tried running the washer today to see what would happen and water pours out and the washer squeaks. After about 3 minutes I could smell rubber burning. I opened the lid and the tub was full of smoke. What has happened? I figured there is a seal that has gone bad in the bottom of the outer drum. If this is the case is there a bearing located near this area that might have gone bad? We bought this washer a little over a year ago and it is very frustrating. Any help is appreciated. The model of the washer is fwsb6600fso.
Thanks

Was it new when you bought it? Sounds shot to me. Seal gone and/or rusted around area and bearings all wet and grinding.
How long was warantee for? If by chance this where new, I'd insist someone fix this or replace it, if say it was days or weeks out of warantee, or tell them that you will spread nothing but bad stuff about that make of appliance.
There are doityourselfers that will tackle such work, if they have time on their hands, but often people in the business make too much money and recommend just replacing appliance.

Here is break down on the parts for your machine. Is the machine over 10 years old? If so I would replace it, With the belt smoking and leaks sounds like several problems, But you might only be a bearing and seal. I usually replace transmission at the same time, usually leaking and you have to take it out to replace seal
