Our OTR microwave died a few days ago so we went out and bought a new one to replace it. When I removed the old microwave from underneath the cabinet (mounted on a inside wall), I realized the backwall venting was installed in .. err.. a strange way. The Microwave was set up to use backwall venting (see Pic1),

but The duct inside the drywall only covers the left side blower, which means the right side blower has been blowing everything into the kitchen wall! (see pic2). You can see the grease mark on the white wall from the right blower.

Also the duct doesn't go up to the roof as I thought it would, instead it goes down towards the crawl space but I couldn't figure out where it really goes to. The microwave and venting system was installed by the builder 5 years ago, is this the way microwave backwall venting supposed to work? I don't want to circulate hot greasy air back into kitchen but blow it into drywall also makes me nervous. Any suggestion how can I fix this?
TIA
