Yesterday I got a used GE Fridge top freezer- model #TBXS21KLB. I live on a farm and the way to the front door is difficult to get to if you are not used to it- so I had the older gent leave it in the driveway till my son got home and we then would put it in the house. It sat nice and nothing happened to it at all- we never laid it on it's side or anything either- Took us 4 hours but we got it in carefully. BUT now after all of that (removing the front door to the house and the fridge doors) the freezer is cold but not really cold (Ice trays put in at noon and now 10pm still not frozen solid- body of the fridge is not cold at all- cool but not cold and I feel no air coming in the fridge part- some air coming into the back of the freezer. (it worked at the second hand shop) We cant afford anything more expensive and ours went out right after getting the weeks groceries.

It is running I can hear it but not cold- only cool. What could have happened between seeing it on Wednesday and getting it on Thursday and putting it in the house ? It had been plugged in at the store and they were using it for lunch stuff there- worked fine when I saw it there. Cold unplugging it and leaving it sit unplugged for a day done something to it?

I really need to figure out how to fix this one since I heard about what a problem it was the entire 4 hours putting it in after my son had worked a 10 hour day. :o

Can you offer any suggestions of what could be wrong? I spent the entire day scrubbing and cleaning it and now - not cold enough to keep food safe- *course we have no food to put in it right now since we had to toss all of it out when the last one went out with no warning on Tuesday- which I guess is a good thing for now.

thanks Sasha

You could call the 2nd hand shop and ask them if they had to charge that fridge before selling it to you. They probably did. Probably the reason why it was at the 2nd hand shop to begin with was that it got warm on original owners, so the shop recharged it. Surely they must stand behind what they sell.
