Not sure which forum to post this in. I have a heat pump, and the hole in the exterior wall where the pipe and electrical cables go through was originally sealed with this black putty-like material. I have no idea exactly what it is, but 23 years later it's starting to crack and fall apart, so I need to re-seal it.
Should I use the same stuff, and if so what exactly is it - or is there something better I should get? I was thinking about that expanding foam stuff, but I don't know if that's recommended for this or not...
The house has vinyl siding. Thanks!
