Cleaning and Stain Removal - How to remove chemical smell from floors?

I just moved into an apartment where a previous tenant spilled some sort of chemical on the hardwood floors in the bedroom. The landlord has tried cleaning it & provided an air purifier but it is still very noticeable. Any tips for how I could try to get rid of the smell? Thanks!

Chemical that seeped through floor boards can not be cleaned. Opening windows and running fans to exhaust the odor from offgassing of volatile organic compounds will expedite the process. Some folks are more sensitive than others to chemical odors. Watch for symptoms like eyes burning, headache, and respiratory problems. If there are elderly, infants or small children, pregnant women, or those with respiratory problems and allergies, exposure to chemical odor can be harmful.

All odors are particulate. Moving air across the area will speed up the release and eventual end of the odor particles.

Air movement is the key... Over time it should disapate. But as twelvepole mentioned..sounds like the issue is under the hardwood floors.

Talk to your landlord and see if a form of compensation is agreeable. You shouldnt have to put up with the past tenants issues.
