I am running out of the space in my garage. Have "professional" shelving unit on one side and some shelving on the other. Both are full and stuff laying on the floor and my workbench makes me sick. I know that getting rid of stuff is the best recipe, but I am a packrat so i keep the stuff regardless. Although i just got rid of bunch of wife's shoes (just kidding) past weekend. I was going to build a shelf similar to one they sometimes advertise with all bunch of guys hanging from it to show how durable it is. Don't know where to begin, any ideas?

Thanks!

The answer is not more storage, but less "stuff".

I too am a packrat of sorts, but I have made a good faith effort to clean out. It takes time. Sort through your stuff in a methodical manner and get rid of as much as you can.

When you free up a shelf by getting rid of something, it is a great feeling.

Post a photo of your space, and we can help with some ideas.

From a current packrat, we need to band together. If we cannot spread out anymore, then we need to go up. Sheving is the answer. As wirepuller suggested, send us some pics of the space and we can help with a solution. I have built several garage storage shelving solutions, but we need to see what we are working with before we can assist. Every situation needs custom solutions.

Can you actually get two cars in that garage - if so, you have a couple options.
Leave one car outside -- more room for more junk.
Get rid of about 1/2 of the junk in there.
Got any room left in the house?
Build a bigger garage.
Get rid of that " I may use that some day attitude "
