How can a place a bed in front of a window and make it look okay?

Sometimes there are no other options than to place the bed or couch under a window. Many recommend a rule for thumb for bed placement is to place the head on the wall that greets the eye upon entry in the room, as that is the focal wall and the bed is the focal point. Having too large furniture for a smaller scale room can make for challenging furniture placement and overcrowding.

Depending on headboard still, such a an open one rather than a solid one, having longer window treatments that hand down behind the headboard as a backdrop can make the arrangement look less awkard. If windows are drafty, insulated draperies may be required.

I would use floor to ceiling drapes to lessen the effect of the window yet still keep it accessible for light during the day.
