All Trucks, Campers, Trailers, RV's and Motor Homes - 2001 silverado igniton switch?

After starting the key won't spring back to the run position. I have to manually turn it back. When I put into park, and remove key, the steering wheel won't lock. I can't turn key to the accessory position.

first check to see if any part of your key is bent or misshapen. if not then just to check remove the lower cover and there should be 4 bolts holding the steering colume in place and loosen them to allow you to access the switch that is on the top of the colume that should let you see if the binding is from the lock cylinder or the switch. it is most likely the lock cylinder but it pays to make sure.

my problem is a little different. i'm unable to turn my key to the off position or remove the key at all. how do i remove the ignition and key?

I had a Chevy dealer grind me a new key (per code). Works like a charm!
