can i plant a climbing rose bush at the base of a utility pole? i've been told that the creisot (sp) use to stop the pole from rotting will kill the rose, is this true?

Unless you have some pretty old poles they're no longer using creosote as far as I know. At any rate, I'm prettty sure I've seen various vines climbing up power poles.
I'm not sure the power company would appreciate the climbing rose on their pole.

If you plsnt a rose with thorns and the utility company has to climb the rose, say goodby to your rose. I wouldn't do it.
