does anyone know if another fuel pump can pump fuel through an electric fuel pump that is turned off?

Welcome to the forums! For the most part, yes. It really depends on whether it is a rotary vane or diaphragm type. One of the worst fears on a Cummins diesel is lift pump failure, so we sometimes piggyback lift pumps, separating them electrically, so in the event of a failure, we can switch to the good pump. They are in line, and bypass each other. Usually the stronger pump is behind the weaker one. Why do you ask the question? Sometimes there may be an alternative way of doing things that we can help with.

I am working on a 1983 econoline 7.5 liter camper. It has double fuel tanks. The generator the way it is hooked up now is tied into the back fuel line itself. It only is getting fuel when the back tank is actually running. The generator has its own pump but, like i mentioned it is only getting fuel when the camper is running and on the back tank. Thanks for the input !!!!!!
