I live in southern Arizona and have a 1750 sq. ft. house. I need to replace the AC. I have gotten two estimates one for a Carrier Infinity 14.5 SEER with Infinity Thermostat and the other a 14.5 SEER Day and Night system. Both of the units are 5 tons. The Infinity system is $7,000 and the Day and NIght is 5500.00. Has anyone heard of Day and NIght? Are they reputable units? I would like to get the best deal possible. I am planning to be in this home for at least 10 years. Can anyone give me any advice please? Thanks.

Brand of equipment is a very small part of the job. Installation is key. I'd rather have the "cheapest" equipment installed by the best installer than the "best" equipment installed poorly.
If I remember correctly, Day & Night is a division of United Technologies, as is Carrier.

If you are going to be there for that long get a higher seer unit! Id recomend min a 15 seer 16 would be better.
