Hello everyone, I am new to Do It Yourself.com

So I am trying to install a laundry chute in my bathroom. I would normally put it in the closet where it is not shown but I have a finished basement so it isnt possible because it is overhead of my family room. So I am resorting to the bathroom... Now I would like to put it in the wall because right below is the dryer, so it would be ideal. Any tips on how to do this?

this is my bath

| . . . . .______ <--that is my towel rack

|----
| .... | <--wanted to put it there, up for other ideas
|----
|
|______------ <--that is my furnace vent

Sorry for the cheap diagram, I did my best :)

The floor is tile, which I could cut but I really prefer not to.

Help!!! thanks in advance!

What size is the void in the wall?

Check with local building codes re: construction requirements and any permits when building a laundry chute.

You need to figure out how to get an unobstructed path from the bathroom to the basement, which might be tricky since the basement is finished. Are you sure there are not plumbing pipes or electrical conduit running through the space. You need to try to follow all those paths to make sure there will be nothing in the way.
