We have central AC, and for a new large room, I wonder what is more efficient, one ceiling vent of 8" or two ceiling vents of 6" each.

What do you think?
Thanks.

I almost always prefer two registers to one.

well, the area of the 8" would be about 50 sq in, and the 2 x 6" would be about 56 1/2", not much diff, but I imagine the air circulation and distribution would be much better with the 2 x 6"

I'm sure there are a lot of other things that would come into play, such as drag due to the surface area of the 6" ducting vs the 8", and the vanes on the grille. Noise might also be an issue.

Just throwing thoughts out...an expert prob knows much better.

It is impossible to give an educated answer to that question. I would need to know the size and configuration of the room among many other things.

It is possible that a single, centrally mounted anemostat-type circular register might be sufficient and then again it might be that several rectangular registers around the perimeter of the room would be better.
