I was going to use some wood stain that I had in my garage that was not used since last summer. The problem is, that its now clumpy and thick. my questions is, can I pour some paint thinner in it to losen it up without losing the quality of the stain, or changing the stain color. I know you can do this with regular paint but I wasn't sure about wood stain. Or is it best to throw the old one out and buy a new container. Thanks for your help.

Yes you can stir in some thinner and make it usable - providing this is an interior wood stain that gets covered with poly/varnish.
