I have a oil fired hot water, closed radiator sytem. I bled the system and exspansion tank but after a day or two the
exspansion tank fills up and the water pressure valve keeps blowing off every time
it cycles on. The water inlet valve has a
diaphram, and a lever to turn water on and off
could this inlet valve be an automatic type.
could you also give me the correct procedure for bleeding the system.

YES, THEY ARE ALWAYS AUTOMATIC. BUT I THINK YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR EXPANSION TANK AND ADD A LOW WATER CUT OFF AND OR FLOW CONTROL SWITCH UP ON THE HEADER. AND GET VALVE OFF THE REDUCING VALVE TO THE BOILER, THAT VALVE IS ONLY USED TO FILL THE BOILER AFTER BEING EMPTY, IT IS NOT A LOW WATER PREVENTER OR A SAFTY DEVICE AND SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS ONE.

Did you say that when you hit the snifter valve at the top of the tank water comes out? You have a bad tank. Replace it and problem solved. You have a bad bladder in the tanks. The only think that should come out of that valve is air!!!!! It should also only have 12lbs in it. This should match your system pressure. That feed valve is automatic and only feeds when the system pressure drops below 12lbs. If you over fed you system then you have another problem.
