goodmorning everyone,
I have a question and was wondering if someone could help me out. In our master bath shower we have no place to put our shampoo bottles and we are tired of having them on the floor.
I bought these small corner shelves from home depot "like your soap dish tray". And was wondering if anything special holds them on the tile besides the thin set.
I know i have to cut my tile in order to get them flush on the wall, but i was wondering if the thin set and the grout is all that holds them up?
thanks

Thinset will be all you need to hold them on the wall. Caulk around the outside of the fixture.
It wont be easy to cut tile on the wall. Depending on what kind and size tile you have it may be easier to remove full tiles, cut new tile and replace. If you have replacement tile or have access to it that wont be a problem. It's not likely you will be able to remove tile without breaking it.
If you are going to remove tile, remove the grout all the way around the tile with a utility knife, grout saw or some other tool of choice. Brake the tile and then pry the pieces from the center out trying not to damage surrounding tiles.
You can cut tile on the wall with an angle grinder with a wet/dry diamond blade or a rotozip with proper blade. The cuts dont need to be perfect as the flange of the fixture will hide some imperfection. If you dont have a steady hand, you may be able to set up a jig on the wall to keep the cuts straight. Remove the cutout pieces the same way as above.:)
