Hi all. I have a GVB7000, that we use to help when the power goes out. about a month ago, we had a storm go through, and I fired up the generator and nothing. It had worked just fine about two weeks earlier. I own a auto repair shop and have been in the business for 30+ years so I generally can figure things out. I cannot find any wiring diagrams or info on the working of this thing. can anyone give me some insight on how this goofy thing makes power?
I have removed the coils and took a good look at the armature, and stator and every thing looks good. thanks for taking the time, Bob.

tried that, I saw it on another post. I even tried flashing with a 6 volt battery.

Is it running at the correct speed?

I ohmed out the stator, and found that the capacitor leads are reading above zero, so I'm guessing that the stator is bad. I ordered one (ouch!) I will update when/if I get this thing to work.

I have the same generator. I had the same problem with it earlier this year. Here's a link to my questions about it http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?p=1314320
I found wiring diagrams for it at the site listed in that thread....http://www.devap.com/repair_pdfs/at_search.asp?id=G

Well, after about two weeks of no parts, I called the place I ordered from, only to find that the stator is no longer available, so does anyone know where I might find a stator for a GBV7000?

Are you certain the stator is bad? What did the leads read? Check with electric motor and air compressor shops in the area. They often deal with generators as well, and might just have some laying around for parts.
