i have this tiller and found that the trans was set up and through suggestions on this forum i dismantled the tiller and opened the case.i found a MESS .after cleaning and freeing up gears and chain,i now have every thing turning.what lube do i need to put in gear box and how much?also any tips on getting the shifter block back in position.when i opened the case the block fell out.i have the diagram. also i plan to install a fitting to drain the lube and one to add as needed,is this a good idea? this has been a time consuming project and would not have done it but couldnt afford a new one. any help would be appreciated. thanks don:wall: :wall:

The transmission uses grease plastilube #1 Part# 6066J. It is Texaco starplex premium NLGI # 1 lithium complex multi-purpose grease. There is no way to drain the grease. But you could add some if you install a grease fitting (some newer models have a grease fitting installed). Water getting into the unit causes most failures. Uses 14 to 28 ounces.
