I just bought a Craftsmen LT1000 17hp OHV lawn tractor with a briggs motor. The lady didn't have the owers manual so I need some help. I want to change the oil and filter, but I can't find the oil filter. Maybe I'm blind or just can't see right, I've looked all over both sides of the motor and can't see an oil filter. Can anyone help me out. Thanks....:wall:

Without any tractor or engine model numbers posted, If you don't see a oil filter this engine hasn't got one.....

This is a 2002 tractor model # 917.271661. It has a Briggs 17hp I/C motor, model # 310707 type 0137-EI. This motor only has one spark plug.

Unless I missed something your engine is shown with Briggs part # 492932S oil filter and should be located as below;

No filter there. I just got off the phone with Sear's and they told me this model motor does not have a oil filter. Have you ever heard of anything like that?
