Hi All,
I am amazed at the wealth of information and knowledge here, kudos to everyone! I was able to find several answers to my problem, but I'm still stumped, hopefully someone will be able to help.
Similar to other posters here, I have a York Diamond 80 furnace in my attic. Last night I noticed it wasn't blowing any cool air (or any air for that matter), so I turned to this group for answers. After digging around today I found that the unit has power, the fuse/capacitor isn't blown, and the blower motor appears to be spinning. I know this because removing both panels (and pressing the cover switch) there is a tremendous amount of air blowing around in the lower chamber. On another note, there is a dual-fan assembly in the upper section, but it doesn't turn at all when the unit is running, I don't know what this is.
After more research I located a duct attachment in the attic that had worked its way loose. I was preparing to fix it, but noticed that no air was coming out while the unit was running. Huh? I have air blowing in the lower compartment, but nothing up top, it looks to me like I have a blockage between that and the ductwork going to the rooms. I also noticed that there is no suction at the filters, so I must be losing the airflow somewhere.
I am totally stumped, and don't know where else to look. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the problem, or know where I should look next? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James

Update: I started fiddling with various controls, measuring voltages, etc, but everything seemed fine. I confirmed the squirrel cage spins freely, and decided to try switching the thermostat to heat, which worked perfectly as I was suddenly blowing hot air throughout my house in this warm weather. Partial success. I switched the thermostat back to cool, and voila, I was getting forced air conditioning through my house!
I don't know why the blower was running with no air moving before. Is there a gate inside that switches between heat and a/c mode, and simply running heat mode loosened things up? Can I expect this to happen more frequently now that it has happened once?
Thanks

Dont have a gate in there for the blower. But the blower turns on for heat one way and another way for the AC. So can be in the tstat or the blower relay. For part of why it didnt run.
