Hello everyone,
I just moved into a place and the shower head is not attached to the wall. The shower head can come out of the wall a little and the opening where the shower pipe comes through is slightly visible. I would like to seal this so that bugs can't get out and water can't get in. What would you all recommend? Thanks!

Is the pipe floppy? If so, it was a poor installation. The shower "ear" should have been firmly attached to a framing cross member behind the wall. My suggestion, and there may be others coming, is to remove a piece of the sheetrock above the shower about 14 1/2" wide (so it will fall on the middle of your studs) and about 6" high, so you can get your hands in there. and fasten the pipes to a framing member, thereby firming it up. Then you can go back and replace the sheetrock, tape, joint compound paint and go. Be sure you install an escutcheon ring over your shower pipe to decorate around the hole. You can fill in the hole with caulk after all is set up if you like.

No, it's sturdy, there is just an opening behind the shower head that I want to seal off.

There should be a trim ring (escutcheon) that covers the hole. You can get them at any home improvement center. All you have to do is remove the shower head and slide the trim over the pipe. Use a little silicone caulk to secure the ring in place.

Where should I put the silicone caulk?

Thank all for your help! I appreciate it.

You can smooth the silicone in the hole to occlude it, but as suggested a couple of medium sized daubs on the inside of the cover, thick enough to touch the wall, will help hold the escutcheon in place

One last thing - haha. I bought Silicone sealant. Is that the same thing as the silicone caulk?

Yeah, it is probably clear, and that will be fine, since all you are doing is sticking the escutcheon to the wall.
