Whats up everyone, hope u r doing good. Im new to this site, giving it a try. What better way to do that than to ask some tough??? I have a cabin on my property that I want to restrore from out to in. I know what I want to do basically but what im having trouble is the bathroom. The cabin does not have a foundation and sits between 6-24in above ground. The bathroom is becoming my biggest concern in that, the toilet, shower, sink, and plumbing to each is cemented into the floor. How thick this I do not know, and when I asked previous owners they say it was built by their parents in the 1940s so im kinda mystified as to what to do. I want to replace the bathroom as the copper has split and joints have busted loose many times over. If I crack the cement to replace the bathroom, i may not have a bathroom floor left so any wild advice, id love to hear it

So you are not on a slab right. So its likely that you have some sort of wood framed floor (a joist system, and wood subfloor) with mud over it. The mud is likely an 1 1/4" thicker or more. Is there an accessable crawl space? Is so, what can you see from underneath?:)

Thanks for replying but i think i got the gist of it now. There is a floor joist system, and the actual foundation sits on cinderblocks(4 corners) Today I took the sledge to the toilet and began systematically bashing out the concrete. LOL. It was like Porcelin rain when I took the sledge to the toilet. Now that I have most of the floor ripped up it looks like the distance betweeen the ground and the floor is only like 4-6 inchs specifically in the middle. Im havin phildo my concrete guy come in and lay out a bunch of concrete underneath the floor then a layer of plastic then another layer of concrete to stop the moisture from the ground raising up and rotting out the floor boards. The drainage will be my next task.
