I recently replaced two 4 bulb 4 ft, flourescent fixture, ballasts and bulbs in my home. I then did the same for a friend of mine, but decided to trim all of the red, blue, yellow wires to a shorter length to make it look nice. The fixtures in my home are working fine. My friend's is going through the typical problems and won't work properly.
Did I screw up? and, or how might I fix this?

Did you follow the connecton diagram as labeled on the ballast ?? they are very picky with connection as far for wire length it don't really affect the performace at all.

check the tombstone [ flourscent bulb holder ] to make sure you got good connection and the concats are clean.

and make sure you have good ground connection [ this is very critcal part for the ballast to work properly.

check if you have correct bulb [ check the wattage vs the ballast label to make sure it is comparble ]

this should help ya with some info you are looking for

Merci, Marc

If trimming the wires isn't the likely problem, I'll go back & check the contacts in the morning. I was thinking that the wires had a designated length for resistance.
Thanks for your help.
