I have a window unit that when I tried starting it for the first time this year it came on cooled fine and two days later crashed . the Fan would not start and the compressor would not kick in . I went out made sure the fan was free and not locked up and gave it a good spin turned it back on and the fan started going . after that I ran it a while and I can hear power going to the compressor and it shuts off and no power . I looked at the plans for this unit and it has Start Assist Kit and Capacitor on it I have been told it is one of them . I would like to figure out what one it is . Thank you for the help

You likely have a bad capacitor.
