I am painting all woodwork/trim a darker taupe in main areas, for upstairs hall bedroom doors on the outside are the taupe, but inside the door I would like to do white, so the question is can I paint the outside of the hallway exposed part taupe and then on the inside do white, where on the door shall I change to white?:

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, this is done all the time.

The outside half of the door and the heal edge [where the hinges are] along with the outside half of the casing and jamb - everything you see when the door is shut, will be painted your taupe.

The inside half and the toe edge [where the latch is] and the casing and jamb up to the door stop will get painted white.

It is a tad easier to paint the inside part first.
