Doors and Windows - Sealing Wood on Exterior Doors from Weather

Have a question, what is a good weather sealer for exterior doors? I don't want to use a stain but want to keep the natural color of the wood. What is a good sealer that would really protect the wood from UV and the weather? I would like something that would soak into the wood.

Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams and others make a UV resistant polyurethane that will achieve this purpose.

Be advised, however, that ANY clear finish applied to raw wood will change the color to varying degrees, depending on the type of wood.

What you want is a spar urathane or varnish. Minwax's helmsman urathane is one such coating. As George said any oil base coating will darken/deepen the natural colors in the wood. A waterbase poly won't change the color any but I'm not aware of any waterbased poly that is rated for the exterior.

Don't forget to seal all 6 sides/edges of the door - that includes the top and bottom. That will help to prevent the door from obsorbing any moisture = longer life :D

Will not skip on price, if it cost more, I'm willing to pay, one thing I learned, is it worth paying more with for a quality product, thus ensuring a better and durable product.
The local store also have Cabots.

I will be looking for an oil based urethane / poly sealing finish then.
