I was wondering if there was a way to control in window ac unit to home digital thermostat? ie by pass nob control and control temp by battery operated digital thermostat.

Could be done, but you'll need to get relays, and bunch of wires to make it work, if you got an older unit, best to get a new one.

A new one has a timer that you can set back and has a digital control on it.

if you're looking for more accuracy, don't waste your time, yes it probably woud be easier to set the temp at first, but once you get it to a comfortable setting, leave it. you'll waste more energy changing temps all of the time.
