Does anyone know of any free home design software available out there? I would like to start brainstorming ideas, but I am not "serious" enough to purchase anything at the current time. Please advise.

depends on what you want to do. however the only one that I know of that is free is google sketchup. it gives you quick and easy 3d abilities and you can also draft floorplans, sections, whatever you need. its also the easiest to learn.

other than that all i can suggest is downloading the trial versions of autocad or chief architect or something.
