....and I don't see how to fix them !!

I get the part about removing all the glass pieces (well, duh).

I also see how the pane should fit back in, but beyond that....

I read the description article on the site, but it made no mention of the triagular shaped border pieces (none of which are metal) between the .....sash (which is the large frame around the window itself, I take it??)

Not to mention, some of those border pieces in my windows don't look like they even come out at all without destroying the whole thing.

Also, they make it sound as if window sashes come out with ease............. I am REALLY not seeing that !!

My wife suggested I mention that the house was built in 1963, so the windows are FAR from new !!

Well, first control the cause, then we'll get to the windows. It may help for you to take a couple of pictures of one of your windows so we can see what those "triangular" pieces are that you refer to. On the outside of the sash the glass is held in with glazing compound. It will need to be removed. Prazzi makes a glazing removal tool that fits into a drill that makes removal a snap. Otherwise you need to chip it out. Be careful not to chip the adjacent wood. Once the area is cleaned, prime it and install your glazing (glass), then, using a glazier's tool, install new glazing compound at an angle. Although the house was built in 1963 if you have thermopane glazing, you will have to replace the entire igu (insulated glazing unit) at one time. So those pictures will help. Let the kids watch as you labor over this. It may help. It's not as much fun as going to a ball game.

also-
if you want to pay a little extra money you can probably put in 1/4" tempered glass and then you won't have to worry much about the kids breaking it again.
