I have a 2002 dodge ram quad cab 4.7l 2wd truck that just failed inspection for excessive side to side variation. What would cause this problem and what needs to be replaced. The truck has rack and pinion steering and an independent front suspension. Thanks

Pretty young for wearing out steering parts, but a good place to start looking would be tierod ends. Ball joints maybe, too; depends on how the excess movement is being checked.
