I have an existing sleeve for my through the wall a/c that needs to be removed. it does not slide out so it must be screwed into the wall some how , but were it looks like there are screws, there are no grooves in the screws to use a screwdriver to remove these , any suggestions on how to remove this sleeve?

Could it be rivets?

Is this a sleeve type a/c where the chassis slides out of the case leaving the sleeve in the wall?
If so could these slot-less screws be nails?
You should be able to drive a large screwdriver under the lip to move it enough to get a claw hammer underneath.
If you do get these fasteners out it is common for folks to use caulking or foam to seal them in so it might be a job to loosen it up.
If you still can't figure it out a pic uploaded to a site like Photo Bucket would tell a better story.
