The pergola I'm starting on will have 2 6x6 post 7.5' above grade. In the past with fences I usually made the holes 3 times the width of the post and then poured concrete. This time I'm considering using sonotube or quiktube forms. Is there any advantage to using them? Another thing I noticed is people setting 6x6 post in 12" quiktubes which only leaves 3.25" of concrete around the post. Is that acceptable support? thanks

I think Id check code for where you are first. Might be the better way to go.;) They do have a new big foot like that you put the sonotube or other pipe on that looks good. Makes for a bigger footing down in the ground.;)
