please explain what the function of the --evaporator coil in my a/c unit is--and is it supposed to drip water? i have cleaned it with --simple green----

The --evaporator coil in the inside blower unit and what it does . Is get cold so any air that goes over it gets cooler and the humidity in it sweats on the cold coil and drips off. That way lets say the air after it passed over the coil is now much cooler and drier going into the home.;)
