I am expanding the patio around my pool and am considering using flagstone (or other stone if anyone has suggestions) set over a concrete base. My concern is the freeze/thaw cycle we get all winter in Missouri.

Does anyone know if it is advisable to have a mortered stone patio over a concrete base in the midwest?
