You need to help us to help you.
What brand and model of thermostat was originally installed and what brand and model did you replace it with?
Do you have a heat pump or separate air conditioner and furnace? What are the brands and model numbers of each piece of equipment?
Did you turn off the circuit breakers for the air conditioning AND furnace BEFORE changing the thermostat?
Several pictures of the air conditioning unit (outside) and the furnace may help to identify the problems. Pictures of the two thermostats also please.
Pictures need to be uploaded to a photo hosting site (www.villagephotos.com is one that I use) and then the public URLs for the pictures posted here.

Okay, let's start with you posting the colors of the wires you have at the thermostat and the letters on the various thermostat screw connections.

This is how it should be.
R = 24 volts ac
Y = Cooling
W = Heating
G = Indoor blower
It looks as if you have R, Y, B, and G colored wires. You may have to go to the airhandler and confirm where each wire lands there. Have you jumpered out R+G to confirm you have 24 volts ? The indoor blower should come on when you do this.

The reason I wrote R=24volts etc... is that somewhere along the line someone may have chnged things and since you don't recall where they were hooked up on the original stat then you should go to the airhandler and see where they land in there.
