Hi all. I'm painting glass with a waterbase spray paint. I need a hard protective sealant to cover it (make it scratch resistant). Can I mix water base spray Varathan with the waterbase spray paint or will it cause the paint to peel up? Maybe there's something else out there (clear) that I could use that would be a harder surface? Any help would be appreciative. Thanks!

Please provide more info, especially in regard to the purpose of the glass. You will want a compatible sealant to go with the paint.

You might want to contact the paint manufacturer for recommended compatible sealer. Check the shelves where you bought the water-based spray paint, you might see a water-based sealer by the same manufacturer for their water-based paints. If you bought at a local paint store, the paint store pros can make a recommendation.

Thanks Twelve, We're painting inside vases, so need waterproof and make seal the paint. They do sell a Shine Sealant, but it doesn't keep the paint from scratching off (even lightly with my fingernail). I need something HARD surfaced..that's why possibly Varathane.. I've used it on other surfaces and swear by it. Maybe I'll have to just go buy a can and try it. Thanks for your thoughts.

I searched Google, painting glass, and there's a lot of information. Try it.
