Hi -- I am in the process of remodeling my home (located in Wisconsin) and heard it is good to have some vapor penetration from the sidewalls so a plastic barrier is not suggested. Is this correct? Currently our exterior siding consists of cement board, 1/4" poly fan-fold, and 1/4 or 1/2" sheathing. I am replacing all [wall] insulation in the project, and was planning on using faced insulation with a 4mil plastic barrier between insulation and sheet rock. Is this overkill?

No you need the VB!

Isn't the faced insulation counted as a VB by itself?

Paper is not a true VB!
