I am trying wrap some leater arond a curved surface. I know the leather will wrap and contour easier if I soak it in water first, but the adhesive I am using (Leather Weld) says the surfaces must be dry. Can I still use this glue even if the leather is still damp, or is there a better way?

I don't know about leather weld, but water actually helps activate and cure gorilla glue.

I do recall from when I was a kid reading about American Indians that they would wet their new leather moccasins and let them dry while on their feet and conforming to the shape of their feet. Thus, perhaps if you allowed to leather to dry and conform to the object first, then gluing would not be a problem. Leather Weld is water-based, thus the reason for leather to be dry.

Try Barge Cement glue. Are you going to stitch if after gluing? Glue may not be a permanent hold for leather so it's usually sewed afterward.

I'd either do it dry or use a glue that likes water, like polyurethane glue.
