for the forum experts and moderators

I have an upcoming PM on my system tentatively scheduled next week. What do the resident experts say is the preferred outside temp to check the refrigerant charge and adjust if necessary on a 410a Trane HP? or does it really matter?

Thanks for the replies.

There is no preferred outside temperature. If it's a warm day, the unit will be running in the cooling mode; if cold, on heating mode.

Heat Pump Tech Literature by the mfr. provides charts showing performance curves for different outdoor and indoor conditions (dry-bulbs, wet-bulbs, superheats, subcoolings, etc.)

So long the unit performs within the expected limits shown, it's doing its job.

If they did like they should have when they put the unit in. There should be a charge chart in the outdoor unit.;)
