I am installing low voltage halogen recessed light in my media room. It measures 12x26. Are 6 lights going to be enough?
3 rows of three. Is it best just to divide the room in six rectangles and plop one in each? Ideally how far from the wall should they be. I will probably have an overhead for a card table on the wall opposite the screen wall and they will be on separate zones with dimmers?

I hate to be rude in here but i dont think 6 cans will cut out for this room you will may need more for that.

what wattage the low voltage can you plan to use [ most use either 50 some case 75 watters ] and the trim it can affect the performace.

and there one thing you have to becarefull when you use the low voltage is the dimmer sometime it can be pain in butt if not planned right they do come in two verison both electronic and magantic rated dimmers so if you get LV recessed cans check out the transfomer specs to verify the type of dimmer it can be used [ they will mention the type ]

why not take a paper and make a quick lay out of the room and plot it out you will get the idea and also check out big box store for demo on the low voltage cans and line voltage cans. the other good place you can see in demo is the lighting centre both will have some type of cans on display and you can see the diffrence there.

to mount the cans i useally go half height from wall like example if ceiling at 8 foot i useally mount the cans 4 feet away from walls unless specal type of trim that can change a bit on the mounting location.

hope that will help ya on this one if need more question just holler in here
